El Teatro Joy reabrió el 29 de diciembre/The Joy Theater Re-opened Dec. 29

Nueva Orleans - El famoso Teatro Joy en Nueva Orleans, reabrió sus puertas el 29 de diciembre del año pasado. El teatro que alguna vez fue el destino favorito para los amantes del cine, ha regresado. Además de la proyección de películas, el teatro será ahora una plataforma apta para conciertos, producciones teatrales y comedia. Además de estos, el teatro también estará disponible para fiestas privadas y eventos corporativos.

La apertura fue en febrero de 1947, cuando la película 'Lover Come Back' de Lucille Ball fue proyectada aquí. Construido por Joy Houck y Levere Montgomery, este teatro tenía un aforo decente. También, una sala especial llamada la “sala de llantos” era para que los padres y sus hijos pudieran disfrutar de la película sin causar molestias al resto de la audiencia.

La reapertura del Teatro Joy arrancó con la actuación de Irma Thomas y Lance Ellis. La alineación de celebridades incluyó Soul Rebels, Cyril Neville y Tribe 13. Celebraciones de año nuevo incluyeron actuaciones de Kermit Ruffins, los Barbecue Swingers y Big Sam’s Funky Nation.

The Joy Theater Re-opened Dec. 29

New Orleans - The famous Joy Theater in New Orleans, made a grand comeback on December 29 last year. The theater that was once amongst the favorite destination for cinema lovers has now returned. Besides screening movies, the theater will now be an apt platform for music concerts, theatrical productions and stand-up comedy. In addition to these, the theater will also be available for private get-togethers and corporate events.

The opening of Joy Theater dates back to February 1947, when Lucille Ball’s movie 'Lover Come Back' was screened here. Built by Joy Houck and Levere Montgomery, this theater had a decent seating capacity. Also, a special room called the Crying Room was meant for parents and their kids to enjoy the movie without causing disturbance to the rest of the audience.

The reopening of the Joy Theater kicked off with the performance of Irma Thomas and Lance Ellis. The celebrity line-up included the Soul Rebels, Cyril Neville, and Tribe 13. New Year celebrations included performances by Kermit Ruffins, the Barbecue Swingers and Big Sam's Funky Nation.
