RÍO DE JANEIRO - La Comisión de Combate a la Intolerancia Religiosa de Brasil (CCIR) condenó el filme "Innocence of Muslims" (La inocencia de los musulmanes) por su contenido "irrespetuoso" contra su profeta, en el marco de una serie de actividades para reforzar la diversidad de culto en este país.

La organización "repudia cualquier manifestación que desprecie creencias y falte el respeto a lo sagrado de las religiones", sostuvo en un comunicado la CCIR, integrada por diversas entidades, como la Federación Israelita de Río de Janeiro, la congregación Espírita Umbandista y otras vinculadas a iglesias protestante, católica, musulmana, del candomblé, budista y grupos gitanos e indígenas.

"La CCIR destaca además que no apoya actitudes violentas y que, a través de la convivencia con los seguidores del Islam, afirma la seriedad y el respeto que los musulmanes tienen por la predicación del amor, la religiosidad y los valores que ayudan a la construcción de un mundo mejor", agregó.

El filme producido en Estados Unidos por grupos todavía no identificados, pero repudiado por Washington, está generando una serie de manifestaciones pacíficas y violentas frente a sedes diplomáticas de ese país en varias partes del mundo.

RIO DE JANEIRO - The Brazilian Commission for Combating Religious Intolerance (CCIR) condemned the film “Innocence of Muslims” as “disrespectful” of the prophet Mohammed, and organized a mass protest demanding respect for freedom of religion in this country.

The organization “repudiates any manifestation of scorn for beliefs or lack of respect for what is sacred to religions,” says a communiqué issued by the CCIR, an ecumenical group whose members include the Israelite Federation of Rio de Janeiro, the Espírita Umbandista congregation, Protestant and Catholic churches, and Muslim, Candomblé, Buddhist, Roma or gypsy, and indigenous groups.

“The CCIR also stresses that it does not support violent stances, and that as a result of coexistence with the followers of Islam, it affirms the seriousness and respect that Muslims have for the preaching of love, religiosity and the values that help build a better world,” it adds.

The film, produced in the United States by groups that have not yet been clearly identified, has also been repudiated by the U.S. government. It has triggered both peaceful and violent protests outside U.S. embassies in different countries around the world.
